Stepan Company is pleased to have achieved our first International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS certification at our Wesseling, Germany facility. ISCC PLUS provides a framework for chemical, food, feed, plastics and other industries to verify sourcing of more sustainable raw materials. This can include materials that are biobased, bio-circular, circular or produced with renewable energy.
ISCC PLUS certification opens opportunities for Stepan to reduce our carbon footprint and to deliver lower-impact products to our customers. As Stepan builds our capabilities to manufacture products using alternatives to fossil-derived feedstocks, participation in the ISCC PLUS program will provide external verification. We are working to achieve certification for additional Stepan facilities by the end of 2023.
And our work to deliver more sustainable products doesn’t end with ISCC PLUS certification. Over the last year, we have launched Stepan’s Partner for Sustainable Supply (PaSS) Program to engage our suppliers on their environmental, social and governance performance and responsible sourcing commitments. This includes the use of the EcoVadis assessment platform to evaluate our key global suppliers based on established sustainability criteria.
With the growing focus on climate change and the impacts on weather patterns and local ecosystems, Stepan is working to reduce our manufacturing and product emissions footprint. We continue our work to deliver innovative, safer and more sustainable products to the market and look forward to expanding our portfolio of ISCC PLUS-certified products.
