Close to 1,000 companies across Poland took part in the “Best in Safety” competition organized by the Central Institute for Labor Protection. The Institute selected 39 of the top companies for further interviews and review of their safety management systems and culture, and Stepan earned a top spot at number seven.
“We are proud to be recognized as one of Poland’s leading companies in safety,” says Piotr Gorczyca, Plant Manager, Stepan Brzeg Dolny. “We often hear from our customers, visitors and contractors that our safety standards are high. We’ve been audited against Stepan corporate standards with good scores. But now, there is a public governmental institution that benchmarked our safety systems and culture with many other respected companies across the country, and based on an objective set of criteria, we have been rated higher than some highly recognized brands.”
This recognition showcases how the work the Brzeg Dolny team has undertaken to make their workplace safe and effective. “The biggest reward is that everyone returns home safe,” says Gorczyca. “We are aware of our own safety challenges, but this ranking lets us know that we have the right processes in place and the right level of our team engagement to manage.”
