About Our Speakers

James Sawyer is Stepan's Global Business Development Lead, Crop Productivity and BioSolutions. He holds a Ph.D. in chemistry and an MBA and has more than 25 years of industry experience, including more than 15 years focused on agriculture. Throughout his career, James has held both technical and commercial roles, providing expertise in formulation technologies, crop protection, biologicals and market-driven innovation. He works closely with customers and industry partners to identify emerging opportunities and advance solutions that address evolving agricultural challenges.

Krista Turpin is an Agriculture Research Associate at Stepan Company with more than 30 years of experience in agrochemical formulation development. Her expansive expertise includes particle-based systems such as suspension concentrates (SCs), wettable powders (WPs) and water-dispersible granules (WDGs), with experience spanning formulation composition, processing, stability optimization and performance evaluation. Turpin holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering and has served in leadership roles within ASTM Committee E35 on Pesticides, Antimicrobials and Alternative Control Agents.

Amy Taylor is a Senior Product Development Chemist at Stepan Company with more than 18 years of experience in agricultural product and formulation development. Her expertise includes suspension concentrates (SCs), wettable powders (WPs), water-dispersible granules (WDGs), emulsifiable concentrates (ECs) and oil dispersions (ODs), with a strong background in formulation design, processing, optimization and performance evaluation. In addition to her formulation development work, Amy leads Stepan Agricultural Solutions’ formulation training program, developing and delivering technical training for employees and customers on formulation principles, ingredient selection and best practices for agricultural product development. She holds a Bachelor of Science in biology.
