To celebrate Earth Week this year, Stepan Company employees participated in various sustainability and community-focused activities across the globe.

Here’s a look at some of the Earth Week Activities our employees participated in across the globe:

  • The Sustainability Steering Team hosted a virtual Lunch n’ Learn for employees on reed bed filtration. Stepan’s George Forrest, Stalybridge Plant Manager, and Andrew Brearly, Reliability Manager, shared about their work to test a reed bed filtration system as an alternative approach to treat effluent on the Stalybridge site. The two also shared the fundamentals of the reed bed system, including the results they have observed from the trials and the significant benefits in terms of reducing tankers, treatment costs, and our carbon footprint.

  • Stepan’s Sustainability in Action Committee hosted their annual Earth Day Photo Contest again this year. Employees from all Stepan locations were encouraged to share their photos related to the following categories: Natural Wonders and Safe and Sustainable Practices at Home and Work). See the winning photos and runners up below:

  • Members of our Stepan Winder team participated in a clean-up event at Fort Yargo, a park local to the plant. During the event, the team worked with other volunteers to clean up any trash and debris they found throughout the park. (See Left)

  • Members of our Stepan Philippines Team spent Earth Week planting around 150 native trees in the surrounding area. (See Left)
