Construction is Underway at Stepan's Future Global Alkoxylation Hub

May 18, 2022

Stepan Company has begun construction to modify our Pasadena, Texas, site to be our global alkoxylation hub. Stepan’s Art Mergner, Executive Vice President, Supply Chain, and Sean Moriarty, Vice President and General Manager, Surfactants, joined the team in Pasadena to commemorate the project kick-off. The investment will bring enhanced capabilities to support the growing global demand of our Surfactant and Polymer businesses

Stepan is committed to delivering value and enabling our customers’ success. Stepan’s investment in this new alkoxylation plant will bring additional capacity and product offerings to support the growing needs of our customers. The facility will have an annual capacity of 75,000 metric tons of alkoxylates made via ethoxylation and propoxylation. Alkoxylates are a core surfactant technology consumed across Stepan’s key agricultural, oil and gas, construction and household end-use markets.

The Pasadena, Texas site is expected to be operational late 2023 and will provide Stepan a footprint in the globally strategic U.S. Gulf Coast, expanding our alkoxylation network to three U.S. manufacturing locations.
