Construction Advances at Stepan's New Global Alkoxylation Hub

Stepan Company has reached 78% of mechanical completion to modify our Pasadena, Texas, site to be our global Alkoxylation hub. The team has worked more than 1.6 million hours at the site and achieved an excellent safety record of a Total Recordable Injury Rate (TRIR) of 0.4 for our primary contractor and no Stepan employee injuries. The site has hired more than 35 employees and completed over 19,000 hours of training.

Stepan is committed to delivering value and enabling our customers’ success. Stepan’s investment in this new alkoxylation plant will bring additional capacity and product offerings to support the growing needs of our customers and will bring enhanced capabilities to support the growing global demand of our Surfactant and Polymer businesses. The facility will have an annual capacity of 75,000 metric tons of alkoxylates made via ethoxylation and propoxylation. Alkoxylates are a core surfactant technology consumed across Stepan’s key agricultural, oil and gas, construction and household end-use markets.

The Pasadena, Texas site is expected to be operational in 2024 and will provide Stepan a strategic footprint in the U.S. Gulf Coast, expanding our alkoxylation network to three U.S. manufacturing locations.
